I apply individual approach to each student to unlock their creativity and potential, to help them achieve their goals in learning music and developing themselves, as well as to enhance their joy about their achievements. I believe learning how to play piano isn’t just a door to the world of music, but also it is a great opportunity to develop coordination, musical ear, the ability to focus and  personality.

The power of music is the ability to speak to every aspect of human being – emocional, intelectual, animal and spiritual. Music teaches us that everything in this world is connected (an Argentinian pianist and conductor -Daniel Barenboim).

She obtained her degree in Music Pedagogy, as well as her first experience in conducting choirs and ensembles in USA.

Lorija moved to Latvia 22 years ago, however her first job was not connected with music. She was a consultant for various recruitment projects. Last few years she has spent sharing her love for music by teaching children (she taught private lessons as well as solo and ensemble classes at Ventspils Children’s Music School) and adults (has worked as an artistic director of two male choirs).

It is interesting – if a child wants to learn something new, move his/her fingers, and think – anything is possible.  A school which is filled with sound of cello is a school with a soul. Cello has become a very popular musical instrument and people want to hear it. The art of playing the piano as a form of creative musical expression – the ability to feel and learn!

A piano and music theory teacher with 8 years of experience. I have work as a tutor with children of different age groups and their parents at music schools and kindergartens.

When conducting seminars and lectures of music theory, I look for opportunities to present the acquisition of music basics with creativity by focusing on practice and comprehension.

The goals of the piano lessons are to facilitate interest of how to play the piano, to build-up and develop technical skills, as well as student’s musicality and creativity.

Respectable music scholars have studied the possibilities of expressions of creative processes in piano and music pedagogy in Latvia. One of the main points they have discovered is that children practice gladly, if motivation is connected to creative playing. Creativity in piano playing acquisition manifests in different kind of improvisation techniques, for example spontaneous improvisation. Improvisation is considered as an important component of musical education, and it is a type of creative expression of children’s learning process – a new type of artistic creation.

When teaching, I use my own methodological materials – the application of technical exercises for facilitation of creative piano playing. I compile my own music sheet collection by following the latest trends in music business. The collection includes compositions from popular movies, songs. I also compose and arrange songs for my students.

The goals of the music theory lessons are to motivate to learn and understand theoretical knowledge, and to it put into practice. Music theory as a creative musical game through which the necessary knowledge is acquired effectively. The main task is to stimulate understanding and motivation when learning the basics of music theory both, with or without a teacher. Musical puzzles, domino and cheat sheets, which are available on our website “Musical games” are used during the lessons, in combination with the practical part of study material during breaks when practicing – singing or playing the piano, completing the tasks by using music books.
